Motor Drive Incentives

NYSERDA's Existing Facilities Program offers financial incentives for the purchase of qualifying NEMA Premium motors. Existing Facilities program pre-qualified incentives for NEMA Premium motors range from $45 for a 1HP ODP motor to $700 for a 200HP TEFC motor. Incentives for variable frequency drives range from $900 for 5HP of controlled horsepower to $5,000 for 100HP of controlled horsepower.

To be eligible to receive the incentive, your business (where the motor is installed) must be within the service area of a participating utility listed below, your company must pay the Systems Benefit Charge and the fully completed application plus required documentation must be submitted no later than 90 days from the invoice date of the purchase. Projects can receive up to $30,000 through pre-qualified incentives.
- Any motor or drive that is eligible for an incentive under the NYS Energy $mart Existing Facilities Program may be eligible for low-interest financing under the Energy $mart Loan Fund Program. To be eligible for the Energy $mart Loan Fund, you must submit your application and be approved before
and installation begins. The loan amount should be based on the Existing Facilities approved measures, and a complete copy of the Existing Facilities application should be included with your Loan Fund application.

- Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc.
- NYSEG
- National Grid
- Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. and
- Rochester Gas and Electric
Qualifying Motors:
To qualify for incentives, motors MUST meet the following criteria:- New, general purpose, three-phase, induction motors
- NEMA Design A or B
- 1 – 200 horsepower
- Totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) or open drip proof (ODP)
- Perform equal to or better than the NEMA Premium® efficiency criteria
